Frequently Asked Questions

about Epoxy Flooring

What are the benefits of epoxy flooring?

Epoxy flooring has many practical applications and is good choice for everything from factory flooring through to garage flooring. The system works by applying epoxy as a liquid which bonds with your concrete floor. Once the epoxy is cured, it prevents concrete dusting and protects flooring from stains and damage. At Conjoint our high-grade epoxy products stand up to all types of hazards such as petrol, oil, paint, moisture, and much more. Whether for your workshop, factory, shop or garage, epoxy is a solid investment.

How long does an epoxy flooring system last?

The length of time your epoxy floor lasts will depend on factors such as; quality of the epoxy, preparation, location, environment and what type hazard the floor faces. An epoxy system that’s installed well can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years. It’s worth remembering that epoxy will need a new coat every 5 to 7 years to ensure it maintains it’s look and performance. In more commercial settings epoxy can last between 5 to 12 years, depending on the environment.

What makes epoxy flooring better than standard concrete flooring?

An epoxy floor system protects  and maintains concrete floors from everyday stains, damage and where and tear. An untreated concrete floors lacks durability because it’s naturally porous and prone to cracking and spalling. Epoxy is clean and nonporous which in turn makes managing floors easy. There are also countless epoxy coatings to help improve the overall look and feel of the floor – bringing it more visually in line with other fittings in a space.

How do I maintain an epoxy floor?
Epoxy flooring in a home garage or commercial setting can be swept, washed or pressure cleaned.
While extremely hard wearing, epoxy flooring can still be damaged. We recommend using door mats to prevent moisture and grit. General cleaning products are safe to use on epoxy but acidic products can affect the epoxy coating and should be avoided. Soap products can be used but, word of warning, they will make the surface slippy so signage is recommended, especially in high traffic areas. If you have any questions please call the Conjoint team to discuss further.
Where can epoxy be applied?
